Orthotics and Prosthetics

Orthotic devices and prosthetic limbs and (O&P) have been around long before "assistive technology" became a household term. Possibly the most stigmatized life-enhancing tools, O&Ps have made all the difference between doing and not doing. Technically speaking, O&P devices have developed from slightly more than cosmetic, to hydraulic, computerized, state-of-the-art masterpieces. We are now seeing 3-D printers being used to create an unlimited number of orthotics at a fraction of the cost.

Today persons with amputations or limb abnormalities can enjoy a steady gait, driving (with or without steering wheel grips or pedal-extenders), skiing and water sports, dancing, gardening, hiking, lifting their children, and leading full, productive lives.
